The forthcoming academic year of 2024-25 in Karnataka will witness the commencement of the second phase of seat allocation in accordance with the Right to Education (RTE) Act. Scheduled for the 25th of June 2024, this process will be conducted through an online lottery system. From the 25th of June to the 2nd of July 2024, guardians of each successful candidate will be notified via SMS in both Kannada and English languages. Additionally, the chosen school is required to update the enrolled student’s details on the online platform by the 3rd of July 2024.

In the academic year of 2024-25, Unaided Private Schools in Karnataka are opening admissions for LKG or Class 1 students under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act. Enacted in 2009, the RTE Act stands as a crucial nationwide mandate ensuring free and mandatory elementary education for children aged 6 to 14 years across all States and Union Territories in India.
A key focus of this Act is to facilitate educational opportunities in local private unaided schools. Notably, Section 12(1)(c) of the RTE Act mandates that at least 25 percent of the total class capacity at the Class I level in neighborhood schools should be allocated for children from underprivileged backgrounds and disadvantaged communities. The Karnataka RTE School Admission process for the academic year 2024-25 has undergone a change in its timetable, prompted by the Government of Karnataka’s decision to reschedule the lottery draw results announcement. The Department of School Education, housed at the Commissioner’s Office on Nripatunga Road in Bangalore 560001, is overseeing this procedure in compliance with Section 12(1)(b) of the Right to Education Act 2009.
This adjustment also encompasses an extension of the starting date as outlined in section 12(1)(c) of the Act. Originally slated for 05.06.2024, the online lottery draw has been delayed due to unforeseen circumstances, notably linked to the Election Code of Conduct. A revised schedule has been issued, with the initial round of seat assignments via an online platform now set for 07.06.2024. School registration is anticipated to open from 08.06.2024 and run until 19.06.2024, with the subsequent round of seat allocations scheduled for 25.06.2024.

The upcoming round of seat assignments, managed via digital tools, is scheduled for June 19, 2024. Subsequently, enrollment in schools for the allotted seats will be open from June 20 to June 27, 2024.
